There is only one thing you need for skiing in the rain ....
The DESCENTE Poncho ...
Get the largest size that will go below your knees. The large sizing will do three things (at least) ....
1) Super easy to get on and off.
2) Long enough so that it will extend well below your butt when sitting on the chair lift, then, extra fabric at the front that you have when sitting on the chair may be used as an extremely effective wind skirting when pulled over, then down around your knees. It may possibly even extend over the tops of your boots. With careful planning, you can keep yourself totally dry and comfortable, as you ride up the Mountain.
3)Zero restrictions while skiing allow you to be not only totally dry, but as free as a bird while winging down the mountain.
Another feature of up-sizing is that the hood will accommodate a helmet for further comfort.
This wonderful piece of equipment can be purchased at Magasin de la place, just over by the Hilton in the upper square of the South Resort Village.
This is the most brilliant thing you can own that will make you impervious to rain and indeed, you too can discover the sheer joy of skiing in the rain.
"What ... ... Are you Nuts ... ...!!!!" you say ....
Not at all ... there is a certain quality to skiing in the rain that is unique .... there is so much grip ....
Now, rain does not mean you will be surfing on top of standing water. For sure, there may be standing puddles of water, but you can see them and avoid them.
A deep snow surface like we have right now (April 4th, 08, the record setting season of 07/08), will wick water very quickly off the surface leaving a very malleable type of snow that is very easy to carve in and has a higher level of resistance than regular snow, so you can actually try steeper runs than you might normally do because the additional resistance will help hold your speed back and you can face the fall line directly.
Eventually, as we all know, the rain, together with spring, will overcome the snow and melt it, but until then, don't be afraid to ski in the rain ... [glow=white,2,300]you'll be missing fantastic skiing if you do.[/size][/glow]
