The Pre-Cambrian Connection .... A unique characteristic of Tremblant.
Tremblant sits at the heart of what is arguably, the oldest rock on the earth.
Now there are some that are going to debate that, but one thing is for sure, the granite bedrock that forms Mt.Tremblant is VERY old.
We are going to take a look at what Joe Ryan saw in this Mountain when he first visited Tremblant in February of 1938.

Yeah, well what Joe Ryan saw that special day in February of 1938 was .... LEFTOVERS ... wwwhhhhaaattttt .... ?? Leftovers from about 4 billion years ago, that is .... Geological time is divided into a complex hierarchy of time periods. The first two eons comprise the Precambrian, the most ancient period of time, which accounts for over five-sixths of all geologic ages. The Precambrian, began with the formation of the Earth (at least four billion years ago) and ended approximately 570 000 000 years ago. It corresponds to the time before the appearance of complex life forms. Tremblant sits right in the middle of the Precambrian Shield, the leftovers of the basic geologic formation from which earth began to shape its surface into continents. Now here's another reason you could call whats left, LEFTOVERS ... But first, consider this .... Mt. Everest is 29,960 feet above sea level ... When they were young, the mountain ranges of the Precambrian Shield were over 60,000 feet tall ..... over double the height of Mt. Everest today ..... That's like, halfway to space .... ....over double the cruising altitude of a 747 aircraft .... Now then, if you think about the current height at about 3000 feet of whats Left Over from those original Precambrian Mountains that were over 60,000 feet tall, you can begin to see what I mean about leftovers .... So, what Joe Ryan saw was the 4 billion year effect of the shifting of earths crust as well as wind, water and temperature, through all history, including ice ages where the whole top half of the planet was covered by miles thick ice. That's what makes Tremblant so special and unique, this Precambrian core that has its own unique shape and flow that has been revealed to us by the 4 billion year efforts of Mother Nature. Joe Ryan knew, as soon as he saw it, that this special shape and flow would make one of the best ski areas in North America, and he set out immediately to make something out of it ....
